VINEYARDS OF SATER.
The Satera wine-making company, founded in 2001, is a powerful enterprise, one of the leaders of the Crimean wine industry. The owner of the company, Igor Samsonov, has been distributing alcoholic beverages for a long time.
He was prompted to create a wine-making enterprise by the negative attitude of consumers towards Crimean wine as a cheap, low-quality drink. In 2000, Samsonov rented an old winery in the Bakhchisarai region, reconstructed the building, and installed new bottling lines. Three years later, he bought out the plant, becoming its full owner.
Today, Satera, whose name comes from sat (rich) and tera (earth), markets around 3.6 million bottles of wine a year. Raw materials for production are partially grown in their own vineyards, partially purchased from Crimean winegrowers, who are subject to strict requirements: for example,
refusal from chemical treatment of vines or harvesting in special 12-kg plastic boxes.
